Electricity Sale

Eligible consumer is the one who consumes more than the treshold set by the Energy Market Regulation Authority (EMRA). Such a consumer has the right to choose his/her supplier independently.

That type of open market has started in 2006. Subscriber who is an eligible consumer can purchase electricity from any supplier that he wants independent of the distribution company in his/her related area.

In 2010 the treshold for consuming for an Eligible consumer was set to 100 000 KWh. This amount has been increased to 30 000 KWh in 2011 and reduced to 25 000 KWh in 2012. In 2013 it has been set to 5000 KWh only. It is expected that this treshold and consuming limit will be zero in the coming years and everybody can be an eligible consumer.
